Community Education
Healthcare Education.
Healthcare education is key to successful community health outcomes. Uzima Foundation’s education programs will equip communities with the fundamental skills to counter many of the public health concerns prevalent in underserved communities. Uzima will partner with providers and public health specialists to create programs that can be taught not only to adults but the children and young adults. We believe that educating the youth is the key to a successful future for the youth and the community.
Our Solution.
We train community health workers and volunteers to provide health education to adults and adolescents on a variety of topics designed to improve disease awareness, such as recognizing and preventing malaria, diarrhea, and dehydration; providing access to basic healthcare, including visits to the local health center for a routine checkup (especially for women during pregnancy); and taking children to vaccination sites for immunization. Actively seeking out and involving community residents is key to implementing effective community-level programs.
